I use greenfax.com Send Only Service to fax from any computer in the office. All you need is an internet connection. The email message appears on the receiving fax as the coversheet, and attachments to the email are the faxed pages that follow.

Greenfax can also be set up to receive incoming faxes. But for that I use an old Mac G3, which converts the fax to a PDF, which the staff drags in AC. Much cheaper than a fax machine, assuming you have an old computer sitting around.
