Recently I did a survey for KLAS. The questions they asked this yr about AC - were different from the ones they had asked in the past.
This time the questions were tough, something we are not able to do, but will be judged and compared with other EMRS. I have gone to their website and compared AC with 2 other very popular ones- ecW and eMds. AC has scored higher than those 2 in almost all areas. I can't put a copy here as they are copyrighted. But as a provider you can register and submit survey about AC and then you get access to their results for all EMRs ( and 1000 other things - which are not useful for small practices).
The questions this year were about meaningful use: The definition of meaningful seems to be in the sense of integration with other systems/interoperability, generating reports, stimulus package, e-prescription, interaction checks, reporting capabilities, portals.
1. Are you confidant that your EMR will meet HITECH meaningful use standards by 2011?. (Nobody at this time knows the standards yet).
2. Physican electronic medication ordering CPOE of permissible rx.
3. Digital transmission to the pharmacy.
4. Medication reconciliation.
5. Drug/drug and drug/allergy alerts.
6. Drug formulary checks.
7. Robustness of data mining tools for reteiving data to satisfy various reporting criteria.
8. EMR options for giving patient electronic access to their medical records
9. Options for electronically sharing key clinical info with other practices/hospitals.
Interesting. Definitely stimulating.
