My experience with the above mentioned 3 step restore approach:
1. It takes a couple of hrs for our more than 7 GB AC including import items.
2. Need to disable that zone alarm firewall.
3. Versions (where the back up is done from and the new server) need to be the same.
I tried on 2 different computers and it went smoothly.
