However, the call referred to above was to discuss results of tests done the day before and to answer questions about his ongoing problem for which I had seen him in the office. After reading the article, I still could not have billed him. Nor would I be able to bill for just about any of my calls. I almost never do phone consultations or prescribe without seeing a patient. I usually just go over things we may have discussed or ordered at a visit. But I was certainly unaware of this change in codes and appreciate the heads up!
