PROS & CONS: Can those who have experienced both the 1) locally installed AC (on premises) and 2) cloud hosted AC by Amazing Charts share their thoughts on the pro's and con's of each setup? We are currently having some challenges with our laptops and wifi connections freezing as we connect to our server and amazing charts via remote desktop. We are wondering if the cloud based solution would be more stable and whether the platform is different or the same.
TIA

Regarding using a local server. We initially used laptops in the exam rooms for several years with intermittent Wi-Fi issues. I ended up running ethernet cables above the ceiling tiles (used wall connectors I purchased from Amazon) and connecting directly to the server via ethernet using an ethernet switch. Also eventually switched from laptops to "All In One" desktops in each room. We also have desktops in our offices that I connected via ethernet. There are only 2 physicians so each of us can log in independently on any computer. The front office computers are also connected via ethernet. No connection problems. The only issue that keeps me on edge is if the local server goes down. It did once and it took a day and a half to set up a new local server with AC support re-installing from back up. Fortunately it was a Friday so I had time to do it. Of course the cloud solves this issue but I have not used that.

I am surprised you didn't get a reply about local server going down. I switched to cloud 8 years ago. It almost never goes down and only for a short while. There are a lot of local based technical gurus who can suggest how to use RAID disk backups so that if one goes down another picks up.
