We use LabCorp, and have the labs imported into the chart. I am told that they are imported to the assigned NPI number and therefore that providers inbox and that we CANNOT change that. We wanted to have the nurses receive the labs and take appropriate (and often times faster) action according to a set of standing orders.

Has anyone figured out a solution to having nurses review labs? I realize this is a very specific issue, and perhaps everyone would consider having nurses sorting labs as an issue; but it’s better than our current situation (labs that may not get reviewed for 2-4 weeks).

Looking for brainstorming! Thanks!

I think if you put the NPI number in and not the license or DEA you would not have an issue with the prescribing. Plus in AC for the users "Level of Access" you set what each user is able to do for the practice. Still not sure that just the NPI number will make the Lab message come in to that persons mailbox.
