Weird title I know, but I need help. I have decided to wait on v8.2.4 until the speed changes are out. AC has recognized the issue and is working diligently to fix it, and they are making improvements. Soon, I hope, it will be as quick as v6 or v7.

Given we do not use ICD-10, (granted it would be nice), we have decided not to upgrade at this point.

I have been on 6.1.2 simply because of the need to upgrade my server (which I have done).

I was thinking of upgrading to a version which may have some improvements, mainly:

phone numbers and fax numbers in ePrescribe and the radio buttons which control NPI, DEA and License number on ePrescribe staying on or off. In 6.1.2, these are random. I always see that they have turned off when I do a controlled substance, which sometimes don't go through and the pharmacies (which have my DEA on file) won't fill them. The reason I see them, is after using the mouses to enter the sig, I have to drag it down to the prescribe button, which always crosseds over these three buttons. But, my MA tabs or something.

So, which is the best version of version 7 which is stable and fast and has the most improvements from version 6.1.2 or 6.3.3.

7.1.3 is the last of the 7 series, and has the most fixes.

I agree 7.1.3 is the latest (I went to V8 from 7.1.2 so can't testify to 7.1.3)

One problem is much of the slowness you will see with the V7 series as well as the V8's

V8 may be SLIGHTLY slower but not by a lot.

I would recommend you compare speed with the 7 series with the 8's but not radically different in speed.

I will give that a shot in my sandbox network. Tried changing to the Aero theme, and all I got was a slow AC in an aero theme. This is so frustrating.

It's kind of like XP to Win7. You lost some speed but gained features.
This is the same with V6 to V7 or V8

Bert,

The specifics of the gent involved are privileged, but the basic issue is moving a four provider practice from 6.3.3 to 8.2.4 in our managed environment. We doubled the assigned cores and allocated an additional 50% RAM. That has made it usable, but still slower than 6.3.3.

The plan is next upgrade SQL Express to 64bit. Next stop after that will be full SQL if necessary.

Once the filmmaker edits it down I will make my upgrade presentation available, but there is a truism that I use now - the more the users, the more challenging the upgrade. Not because of the upgrade itself, but getting back to a level of performance that users will accept.

Aero is a waste of time. Slightly more dazzling, definitely slower. It was taken out of Win8 but might be added back as an option to Win10. The real question is how much of an effect was due to Aero.

Thanks Indy as always. You are up early. If you are in Cali.

Do you stil have clients on v7. What's the oldest version you support?

Most of our managed clients are on 6.x, but we have client site servers that are still 5.x.

I'm sure Wendell has v1 installed somewhere, but he is a special case. *grin*

v1 had an issue that was so debilitating it was funny. Not sure if it happened to Wendell, but it happened to me. Don't have time to go into it now. But, when you combined the problem with Fast User Switching, it was a nightmare. Especially, when your partner had absolutely not patience.

As a recovering engineer, I am professionally paranoid. It is more mindset than affliction in my world.

Most of our clients don't want to be the first penguin pushed off the ice.

Come on Koby, I'm not tagging anyone. You can wait for the video, but to give you a nugget - everyone's circumstances, and choices, are unique to them.

Indy I apologize, I was using your post as a weak rub to Bert who has been ever so gracious in helping me with my current AC misery.

Tom please keep your posts/commentary coming think I read every one, not sure we 'have' AC anymore however, PriMed has it, we use it hopefully a symbiotic relationship somewhat insulated from the government/insurance/pharmaceutical/industrial complex.

Koby - I take no offense, and found the image described amusing. Probably should have thrown in an LOL, just didn't think of it.

In enterprise IT, the penguins and killer whales is a well-known meme, and most of us are trailing adopters unless there is a significant advantage that makes it worth the risk.

Actually it was 1.2.5 that had the problem. As I recall you and I were some of the few that had the problem according to Jon Bertman. Didn't realize it had to do with Fast User Switching, it seemed to go away but I don't recall if that was 1.2.8 (which I still have a copy) or V2 which I might be able to find if I tried hard enough.

It wasn't due to fast user switching, that is just what took it up from level hell to level nightmare from hell, lol.

Will explain when not using phone.
