KnowBrainer Review of Dragon 13 Although most of our medical clients use DMPE2 we still have some that use Dragon Professional and Premium so I felt this was a valid review for the Forum. Dragon Medical 13 or DMPE 3 is still a long, long way away. Nuance has just rolled out Dragon 13. If you would like to read our detailed 16 page review, click the KnowBrainer NaturallySpeaking 13 Review at http://www.knowbrainer.com/index.cfm/wiki/knowbrainer-review-of-dragon-ver-13/

Tom,
Thanks for the review link. I am using Dragon Medical 12, how do I roll back to Best Match IV, as you recommend, until the Medical version of Dragon 13 is available? Or for that matter, how do I find out whether I am running Best Match V or IV?
I have a Table Mic 6 in 1, so I am very eager to get Medical 13 for the improved Far Field Algorithms.

I just downloaded Dragon 13.0 Noticeably more accurate--With the FlexyMike or the TravelMike, close to 100% accuracy.
It also will automatically upgrade the 12.5 profile -- though the documentation says it will not. So upgrading turns out to be a snap.
The Smartphone microphone app works better, and is also close to 100% accurate.
The Dictation Box comes up automatically and quickly as you talk, if you are dictating into an unrecognized field, and doesn't lose any dictation, so there is very little delay.
The 13.0 version finally makes the built-in microphone in my X220T usable -- it isn't 100%, but will work in a pinch.
Now, when I say 100%, I don't mean it can figure out homonyms or differentiate "colon" and ":" or "period" and "." -- but with care in dictation, it transcribes everything almost perfectly, and you can at least figure out what it was supposed to be.
Thank you Tom Hamilton and KnowBrainer. I have learned a lot about dictation and transcription from you, and even though EMR turns me into a transcriptionist and file clerk, this is a huge help in making it work for me.
I am about to buy one of the Andrea sound cards to use with the FlexyMike -- you said that for close-mike applications it will work as well as the SpeechMatic Multi-adapter.

John,
If you have a copy of our KnowBrainer Dragon Medical Installation/Training Guide, you will find pictorial step-by-step instructions on p. 6. If you do not have a copy of the guide, you will need to create a brand-new user profile based on BestMatch IV. The only way you can create a BestMatch IV profile is to create a new profile. During the creation process you will be prompted to ?Review your choices?. When you reach this page, you will see an Advanced button. Click the button and you will see how to change your default setting from BestMatch V to BestMatch IV.
To tell what BestMatch profile you are currently using, click the Dragon Profile menu followed by clicking Open User Profile and then pressing the Properties button.

Tom,
Thank you very much for the compliment. The Andrea Pure Audio MA will work just as well with that particular microphone.
