I'm logging into Amazing Charts thru a remote log in (Log Me In) and I'm finding that the system is constantly freezing up on me. I spend more time idle, waiting for it to unfreeze than I am actually getting any work done (although at this point I'm trying to teach myself the AC system, and doing an awful job!). Is the freeze up a normal situation that you all deal with or is there something else I should be doing?
Thanks

This is likely a bandwidth issue. Try this: log on with LogMeIn, and at the top, go to options..color quality. Select the black and white option on the far left, and see how much that helps. Let us know if that does or does not solve the problem and we can tell you more...

JAP,

When you have questions like these, please try to include as much information as possible such as what OS is the host, what OS are you hosting from, how much bandwidth do you have when you use a website such as DSLReports or many others. Are you using LMI or LMI Pro? This would make Jon's answer much more helpful.

EEK!!! I can't even answer Jon's questions much less figure out what you're saying Bert!! I'm too new at all this right now and am trying to figure things out on my own (and I'm not anything close to a techy!)...I'm sorry!!!
I also only work one day a week so I'm long in getting back to anyone on my own posts.
oh oh.....LMI is Log Me In!! I think just LMI and not LMI Pro. Right now I'm using the computer that the Amazing Charts actually is on so I'm not needing to use LMI at all. I blew up the laptop I was using (see...not a techy!) and I think it's gone! As soon as I get a chance on another laptop I'll try and log in remotely.
Amazing Charts representative just got me info on a practice that is near me that is using Amazing Charts and can maybe allow me to sit with them and learn the system. I'm lost on my own..and the videos aren't captioned and a deafie has a dificult time learning anything at all.

JAP, slow down and take a deep breath. You can Google these terms. If you aren't paying for LMI, then it isn't LMI Pro. There are many places to check your bandwidth, DSL Reports being one of the more popular ones. You would probably want to have around 1Mb/s down and up. Anything less may not be enough, although you would problably be OK with less.

Jon's questions are straightforward. After logging into LMI, follow his directions. He is saying that black and white may use less bandwidth. Bandwidth is the speed at which you can travel through Ethernet cables, wireless, Internet, whatever.

Reasons it will be slow:
1)Bandwidth (how fast is your DSL or cable) check above as Bert has suggested.
1b) How fast is the wireless your laptop may be using? Do you have problems when you try from a hard wired machine?

2)Memory (how many Gigabytes does each computer have) Newer machines tend to be more generous but each should have 2Gb and hopefully 4. The more programs you are running, the slower the machine will be because it is sharing memory with all the other programs, not just LogMeIn.

3)System issues (mysterious bumps in the road you probably don't want to know)
Other people logging into the same computer,
firewall issues,
system stability (what system? Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8?)
has it been updated recently,
what anti-virus software.

All of these things CAN have an effect. The bigger bang for your buck is going to be the first two things. But then again...

When you stated you "blew up" your old laptop, perhaps the system was not stable and that may have been a reason it was not functioning properly with LMI. There are ways around this too, but using another computer can be helpful to sort it out.

Thanks gang! I'm laughing at all this (honestly!) and am learning as I go! So far I've not had access to the lap top and that very well may have been why I had issues w/ the remote log in in the first place. It's the only computer I've used previously. I don't have to use the log in w/ the computer I'm currently using since the Amazing Charts is on this computer...so now I just have to figure out what I'm doing from the get go!
