Is there a way to E-prescribe diabetes test supplies? I know I can write the E-Rx and it comes across as a fax. The problem is when I get a refill request electronically, I can't refill it without using "Deny & write new prescription".
I'm on Ver 6.010

The hardest things I have to write are strips and lancets....I absolutely hate it...being a doc is hard enough...come on AC/Surescripts help us out a bit..we took a 2% haircut on medicare and probably others today...

I am glad someone started this post. I was about to send a message to AC support. Almost invariably we end up denying the original request and send / fax a new request. I creates unnecessary double entries in the records. There are times that for DME supplies, AC sometimes won't even send the prescription with a warning that electronically prescribing controlled substances is illegal. AC database of meds and pharmacies is also outdated.

Couldn't find a work around (other than printing and then faxing). Told me that an update to the erx is coming. Maybe in 6.5? Fingers Crossed One of my frustrations is that I sometimes have fax insulin orders when I have to fax orders for strips. I send those orders with < and > signs when giving instructions for the insulin. I get the refill order back with those same symbols, but it won't let me send them because it says those symbols aren't allowed. They ARE ALLOWED by Surescripts, just not by the erx program.

To all:
We are beta testing 6.5.2 and I just tried e-prescribing Diabetes supplies and WAS able to do it. I could prescribe lancets, syringes, test strips, and different brands of insulin. They ALL came back as VALID FOR E-PRESCRIBING. Even needles came up as OK, but I assume once they get to Sure-Scripts, they will be blocked, but.....
