Hi users,

JB and I are responsible for approving new users. The only way I can tell if they are legit is if their email is something like, buying@gold.com.

Some will say familypractice.com or md.net and it is easy. It is the ones in between. If you log out and then try to register again (Don't actually register again), you will see that none of the questions help to determine criteria for being a member. So, they either sit in the queue for days.

I just tried Googling my DEA, and it didn't come up, which would make sense. My question is what piece or pieces of information would help us to determine "quickly" if the registrant were legit. Now, keep in mind, that even if that registrant is a coder/biller, nurse, or office manager; they could still use the doctor's NPI, etc.

This is rather important. Much easier to keep SPAM off the board up front.

I think you can verify NPI rather easily. Could be forged but fairly but more difficult than using the office phone number.

Other option would be use the office phone number and require a call back but that is too time consuming because it would have to be done during office hours.

That's a great idea. Does everyone agree that most people would at least be associated with a physician. If not, like the UpDox rep, there would be a freestyle place to explain.

Maybe people don't see this thing as a big deal, but for me, it takes a lot of my time.

Ask them what kind of car they drive. Only physicians drive BMWs or Lexuses smile. Sorry, James.

Leslie's idea is good, but I think some IT people have cars like that, too. I have seen one of Indy's vehicles; wasn't that a Lexus van you drove at Tahoe?

I think you could ask for either an NPI or office phone. Both are public information and could be obtained or faked with a little work by a determined individual. Both could be verified on Bert's end in a couple of minutes.
But I think the average "spammer" trying to get on here will not go to the effort to produce either. In other words, ask for an NPI or an office phone number, and don't bother to check either one unless you later decide there is a need in specific cases.

I guess NPI is the way to do it. Then again it isn't very hard to look up an NPI number.

Would you say the majority of fake accounts are bots or actual people trying to spam?

The bad part about Lexus and BMW is that my decked out Suburban and 4wheel drive Dodge megacab cost about the same but don't draw the attention.

About verifying identity - don't sweat it, just delete the account after the first post which if they are a spammer will be bad the first time.

Who would have thought pickups would cost $55,000 or Suburbans $50-60,000???? What is funny is that an Escalade (cadillac logo on suburban) is pretentious....

When Steven talks about his decked out Suburban, he isn't kidding. Its the extra work that drives the price up. But at least he can fit the whole family.

I need one of those, but I really want the Google self driving version - I get some of my best sleep in the car (usually with someone else driving).

ROFL - you got both Lori and I with that one!

Actually, I tend to grow affection for certain vehicles that serve me well and have gone as far as replacing engines to keep them in service.

When working for a certain technology company [that will remained un-named] as Engagement Manager for enterprise accounts, I drove my trusty snow-truck to a soiree where we were required to valet, and one of the Executive Management saw my 'entrance' and I was ordered to never arrive at a client location in that vehicle again.

For the next two years they reimbursed me for a rental car, and I drove the pickup on the weekends to do chores (with Quiqley in the passenger seat).

Perhaps as an allegory, [e.g. you can't judge Doctor by their vehicle, or a user by their form submission]

I would think that the highest confidence validation of a user account request would be a practice name, real name, and call-back number to verify that they are actually requesting an account.

Everyone is busy, so choose a group of folks that get a private message and one of us makes a quick call to verify, then reply back into the PM thread. Then you or JB can approve.

You could call the group MOB (Members Of the Board, or Minions of Bert?)

I personally drive a Dodge Ram 2500 (miss my Chevy) but we car pool to work every day in a Chevy Aveo. We call it the "Clown Car" because when we all get our fat butts and long legs in we look like we are headed to a Shriners Convention.

Good use of Administrator privilege, Bert: when they hijack your thread, change the title.

'99 Camry. Always loved it when my kids would say "aren't you embarrassed to park that on the doctor's lot at the hospital".
Now I will tell them this is considered a late model car for an AC user.

Mine are all real pictures. Completely detailed and using P21S Carnauba Wax. $33.99 for 175 grams. Had to do the Lexus over again due to three minutes of acid rain.

Oh and the Jeep is real. The backdrop was put in using Adobe Photoshop.

Speaking of Carnuba wax, the project a few weekends ago with the kids was to spruce up the old vanagon with Zymol cleaner wax a combination of carnuba wax, beeswax, vitamin E, aloe vera, banana coconut extracts, almond meal and shining agents. The stuff smells great!!
After the outside was done had to burn a little incense and splatter the kids with patchouli oil.

I am sure it's the Vitamin E that is giving it the shine. You should also test your vehicle for 24-Hydroxyvitamin D or Vitamin D3. May want to get that level of to 60,000.

No doubt the BMW is the way to go. But, when they chose RWD over AWD for the first time in seven years and won't budge on remote car start in New England, had to go with the Lexus. But, nothing drives and handles like a BMW. I would have to agree it is the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Can you verify against customer number or whatever they have with AC? NPI is easily googled, just does not come on first couple pages. AC should cooperate.

I figured West German vehicle, Danish muffler, and American magnetic peace sign, why not Vitamin D containing Brazilian wax, -the ranchers and farmers look at me with disdain as I putter the kids to school, but truth be known, I am more of a redneck than most of them.

I prefer my yamaha 450 rhino when the drifts get over 2 or 3 feet.

We already have snow on ground here.
