Yes, it runs fine. You will want to check to see if there are 64 bit drivers for your peripherals like printers and any other special devices.

I'll second Sandeep, and will forewarn you that AC won't be an issue, BUT there are lab company's software and other third party software that either doesn't run or even install on 64bit.

This has been discussed at length before, but most say they've had no problem with the 64 bit, unless using some very old printer drivers and such. If you still want to use your 1998 HP Printer, you better not change it. I did stay with 32 bit when I bought all my systems a few years ago, as 64 bit was just coming out on PC. (Have used no problem on Mac for some time) This has worked well, and I don't see why you would need the extra RAM capacity for this program.

Well, I always have an opinion. I don't know about 3rd party lab connections, but I haven't found one program that won't install on WIN 7 Pro 64-bit. They have WOW and install to an x86 folder. Sure you have to find the right drivers, but most of them are out there. Haven't you had to choose drivers by XP Pro, WIN 98, etc.? I would DEFINITELY go with 64-bit. You can use as much memory as you want, and it won't be long before you won't be able to find 32-bit drivers.

get the 64 bit machine. when I get the MU money,I'm going to replace all of my aging 32 bit machines. AC runs fine on Win7, Win7Pro, and 64 bit.

Even if the software doesn't work natively in Windows 7, which is rare as Bert says. There's the XP mode (not XP Compatibility mode, but a full virtual machine licensed with a copy windows XP professional 32 bit) included in the Pro and Ultimate editions. Hardware/drivers is the main thing you have to watch out for.

But, there will still be users who purchase WIN 7 Home.

If people insist on buying Windows 7 Home, then I say to their fate let them fall.

I use ME on all my computers.
And, on the other, there is a reason they call it home.

Serious question:
I am still using Dragon v9.51 Preferred, mostly because it will run with AC. I would rather not pay $1500 each for myself and my PA to use Dragon Medical.
I do not think v9 will run on Win7. Anyone know if it will run on Win7Pro XP mode?
Thanks. Gene

Gene, I don't know about XP Mode...I do know that I could not use it on a 64 bit Win7 machine, but use it successfully on a 32 bit Win7.

What error message did you receive when you tried to run the program?

Hi Sandeep,
I have not tried installing Dragon v9.5 on a Win7 machine, their website indicated that this version was not supported. I am building some new desktops per your recommendations, I will try an install.
http://nuance.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5775/session/L3RpbWUvMTMyODY1MjUwNi9zaWQvNXVEVHg3UWs%3D/session/L3RpbWUvMTMyODY1MjUwNi9zaWQvNXVEVHg3UWs=
Also, it appears that WinXPPro will not install on the Intel mobo you recommended. I tried several different sets of disks, blue screen error came up during install. Win7 installed with no problem.
Jon, good to know, I may set up one desktop as Win7 32 bit if the 64 bit install does not work.
BTW, congrats on the Ravens season. Their loss was a heartbreaker. I think any questions about Flacco's abilities were answered.....
Thanks. Gene

This will happen on most or all Sandybridge computers using the Intel SATA controller. You need to use Windows XP SP3 and slipstream the Intel drivers/use a floppy with the drivers/change the emulation mode for the SATA ports to IDE. It might just work with XP SP3 but I don't think it will. If you don't do one of the above, you get a blue screen. RAID: Intel? Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel Desktop Boards XP Mode Download Page (Win 7): http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspxThis is the free VM included with Win 7 Pro. You can convert it to a VMWare vmdk if you want too.

Back when XP was in its prime. Everyone was on IDE. Windows 7 has the drivers included for SATA/AHCI so it works fine.
