We took the dive and upgraded last week. Everyone who has little involvement in driving this integration got up easily. Unfortunately, I have been having the most trouble.

AC techs spent 3-4 hours but couldn't get mine up and working. They stated it is a windows 1720 error... an error with the windows installer. They tried windows installer fix it programs, a different user, other stuff, not sure....They were unsuccessful and said I should ask my IT guy.

IT guy unfortunately after 1.5 hours was stumped as well. States it may be a registry issue and he doesn't want to or can't fix it that way. He wants to reinstall my whole system and I will lose some of my other software (most importantly my PM one that "requires" company personal at a cost of ~$400 to come reinstall). Obviously not enthusiastic about this idea.

However, I am stuck. I have been using a laptop, transferred my short keys, BUT NOT my dragon....its taking forever to document. REALLY want my computer back and working.

Any thoughts or expert advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Neil

System restore. Then install again. I think you should learn how to install your PM. Ours takes about 10 minutes to install. If you have support they should install it remotely.

Neil,

I emailed you around five answers to the 1720 error pertaining to Windows Installer. These are all from Experts Exchange, and I think you will likely find your answer in one of them. This is a Windows problem whereby Windows is missing some files from its installation package.

If you can't fix the problem with these, sign up on www.experts-exchange.com and get a free trial account. I can almost guarantee you the experts will be able to solve the problem given your specific issue. I would NOT redo my entire setup.

I just want to make sure. Everything is working, and the only program that won't install is AC on your computer?

Meanwhile, why not install Dragon on the laptop as well?

Bert,

As always, you go above and beyond. No wonder you are burning out! Your assistance was much appreciated it.

Here is the story.....it?s been a long few days.

I followed up on your leads. They were helpful but nothing seemed to work. Was still in the midst of trying multiple things when one of my patients, a techie came in for a visit and I grabbed him. After spending an hour on my computer, the conclusion was that the registry was VERY messed up and would require hours to fix, without any guarantee that it could be done. He told me to not waste my time with the group because it would be hours with them too without any real guarantees!

Still not wanting to give up my practice manager setup, I swapped the computer with on of my back office staff with a full working registry and AC 6.1.2 installed (as well as the PM of course). Now they will never get AC on, but who cares. As long as the PM software works for her, that is ok.

Now I needed to transfer all of my stuff to the other computer. Used a USB for speed, still trying to find the proper place to put my Dragon user file. Go the short keys up and now just need to do the rest of personalization twerks and install them....Mozilla, MS word, a pdf program (like PDF x-change), printer files, yahoo toolbar, etc.... big pain!

The reason I didn't put dragon on the laptop was it was a 64 bit and it only runs on 32 (I tried). I have a version 9 of it, non medical. Works well with a $20 microphone from microcenter (don't tell the dragon salesman who trolls through here...), not sure if I should really upgrade to the medical or a high power microphone...

So I got my 6.1.2 up and running.....looks good, no speed issues. My internet went down multiple times this week from the server and once the box near the server had to be reset.....hoping this has nothing to do with my new AC install and is just a coincidence.

Thanks again!
