First, 6.1.1 is less of a beta than most betas. Don't look at it like going from 6.1.1 to version 7 in a beta. It has very few changes since 6.0.9, and the changes it did make are huge.

It basically comes down to this:

Is it taking more than 10 to 20 seconds for your prescription writer to open, then upgrade.

Do you use the TSP800 printer, and it isn't working properly, CONSIDER the upgrade.

Either way, why not download it to a test machine and see if those two things are better?

Also, as far as the TSP printer is concerned:

Thanks to Ken for posting this while I was in my 48 hour exile.

I will just add a couple of things. First, just to save one click, you can click on preferences then Advanced to get to the paper size. I am not sure if you have to do both, but I always go to Device Settings and change it there. Doesn't seem like Ken had to.

To get to where you need to be, select Printer Properties when you right click the print driver. This is in the middle of the drop down. Don't use the properties at the bottom or you won't get to the right screen.

I am sure you will figure that out.

As far as printing other things, I still have problems. But, I think we can all benefit more if we are talking apples and apples.

With the new version and print driver, I can print to any printer from a different app, say Word. I can print to any printer using any part of AC that is not in the script writer. But, if I open the script writer and choose to view the script and not select the TSP driver, I am unable to print that script to a regular printer. It views in a TSP format (sort of) and the other printers don't recognize it.

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem.

Also, going back to 6.0.9 when everyone had issues, and I was able to get one or two to work and then share them out; if you use the Star Micronics printer and it isn't working with 6.1.1, install it on different computers.

If you find ONE that works, you can share that one out.

If we use something other than the tsp printer as default, does the script writer work reliably?

With the new version, it doesn't have to be the default. I can just select it even though my HP printer is the default.

But, just having it there and being set up as TSP and Format 1, I can't print to a different printer from within the script writer, which I used to be able to do.

I don't quite get it. I am using several HP printers for different tasks, one of which is loaded with security paper for scripts, and which is currently set as the default to meet the needs of the 5.029 prescription module.. Will I have a problem?

Possibly. You have to use a test computer and try it. I didn't have this issue with v6.0.9, but I do now. But, I haven't upgraded. I only installed v6.1.1 on a test computer.

In complete fairness, it does solve the problem of printing to the Star in the normal fashion.
