I just got a Kindle keyboard 3G last week, and then Amazon announced a whole new line of Kindles. Now they have 7. I sent my Kindle Keyboard 3G back. I liked it but kept trying to touch the screen when surfing the net or writing email. It was nice to have free 3G when away from wifi.

I don't plan to use a kindle for amazing charts, by the way.

Any thoughts on the Kindle touch 3G $149 versus the Kindle fire $199? Maybe I 'need' both - haha

My quick analysis suggests the touch has advantage of 2 week battery life (with wireless on) and free 3G, but no color.

The fire has color screen, supports apps / multimedia, but no 3G and only 8 hours of battery life with continuous use.

I suspect the fire will be the hot Holiday gift for 2011.

I like the concept of the Silk browser for the Kindl Fire, which does much of the webpage rendering on Amazon's cloud servers, speeding up web access. Some reports have raised the issue about security of this process however, such banking for example, since Amazon didn't address security on their EC2 cloud service during their presentation.
