We use logmein with a 15.4" laptop for remote access to AC This is fine for desk use but a little big to carry around the house or use on the couch.
We bought (and returned) an iPad2 with high hopes that it would work well with logmein. It's an amazing form factor but it was just hard to get used to the mouse "emulation" and the on screen keyboard.
We are thinking a small/light laptop or netbook would be next to try. Can anyone recommend a netbook or small laptop that they like for using AC through logmein? Thanks.

After years of various makes and models, my current laptop is my favorite. It is a Toshiba Portege R705. My partner has the newer version, the R835. At 13", it is very light and portable, but with a large enough screen and keyboard to make AC access (even via logmein) fairly comfortable. The battery life is amazing, and the price is not crazy. We bought an iPad2 but also found the "mouse" to be too cumbersome for anything but an "emergency"; the Portege is light, not much bigger and so long as you have internet access, is far more practical for AC access with logmein. We kept the iPad2 for other (business!) uses.

Also like my Portege R705. This is what I bring into exam rooms. Battery is better than most laptops but it does run low if I don't charge it over the lunch hour.

I have tried using a Dell netbook and logmein...hated it. In my opinion there really is no good substitute for a regular laptop or destop

I agree with Leslie. Resolutions are a bit low on netbooks. Hardware isn't very powerful. Keyboards are little too small. I draw the line at 12". There's nothing wrong with a light computer though. HP Envy 14, Dell XPS 15z are some larger laptops that are lightweight. I personally just bought a Lenovo x220 (12.5", 20 hour battery life (optional slice and 9 cell). The x220 is an ultraportable (<3 lbs and quite powerful). There's also a tablet version if you want that. I personally prefer a keyboard and trackpad.

I use an HP mini, XP pro, which is a netbook and has a 10 inch screen. I use LogMeIn to connect to my desktop and it works great. Surprisingly, when we use our laptops to connect to the server directly through the wireless-N access point it's painfully slow, but connecting through the same access point and then through LogMeIn is very fast. Go figure. One partner uses an HP tablet PC which is a little larger. I would not like to carry a larger laptop around. Another partner used an Ipad2 with GoToMyPC which worked well but he also found that LogMeIn didn't function very well. After I showed him how well the HP mini worked with LogMeIn he stopped using the Ipad. It doesn't matter what type of PC we use when it comes to the prescription writer in Version 6.1.0, which on our system is even slower than version 6.0.9

Go figure. This shouldn't be surprising. I'm assuming you're using logmein to connect to a computer that's hardwired into the network. Logmein just needs bandwith to update the screen and all the processing and output is actually done on the host computer.

This past summer while in office transition, I used my Toshiba Satellite T135 (13 inch). Connection was wireless through LogMeIn Pro(main desktop was in my home office). Worked like a charm and was very fast as well. I love my little Toshiba. It's an older version but light weight (I use it when traveling), quick, and the battery seems to be related to the energizer bunny. Best of all, the keyboard fits my hands perfectly.
