We are considering a virtual phone attendent, primarily for the nice way that they sound when the caller must go into voicemail or calls after hours. Has anyone here had experience with any of these systems?

I actually did set up my auto attendant on my phone this month to "feild" calls a bit as I have been operating without a receptionist since July 1. I found it really helped put folks in the right pew so to speak. I kept it very simple just appointments and questions in one and Rx refill in another. If I was available to answer the phone great, if not no biggie. It also decreased free phone consults! As soon as they realized I answered my own phone I was sunk! Good luck!

Complete and total experience. We are now using VoIP with auto attendant. It allows selections, but nicely allows the caller to select zero right off so they can talk to a receptionist. Music on hold. All messages done professionally.
Saves 75% of on call pages. There are two types. One uses an ACD and another an ADT. I think we use the former, which allows the caller to go into a queue. This is cool, because the patient will never get a busy signal and will always get through to a receptionist within two minutes of any call.

As soon as they realized I answered my own phone I was sunk! LMAO. Additionally, they can't badger and threaten the automated assistant like they will sometimes with a receptionist.

Which flavor of "virtual phone attendant"or "auto attendant" are you using? I find it confusing to pick the right software (i.e. one that an old dinosaur in solo family practice can set up - without monthly charges, if you please - I am not going to do the MU, I do the eRx -so keeping overhead down is needed in order to survive these trying times)
ps I am using DSL but will soon have internet cable in my area. pss I really love ShortKeys-picked that up after reading the Forums-speeds up my documentation.

I am using an actual Hosted VoIP solution with serious monthly charges, well not serious, but akin to phone company charges and more.
But, I don't see how you can get a free phone attendant such as OneBox or Grasshopper. Maybe look at free Google Voice but even it doesn't offer a free auto attendant that I know of.
