Does anyone have experience setting up the 2 interfaces between AC and Medisoft? Also from Medisoft to office Ally? I need more practice financial info than I can get from Amazing, but how reliable and easy is the AC-HL7-XLink-Medisoft-Office Ally chain? Also so far I have not found any cost estimates re XLink, but Ill call them.BTW Im a solo family doc and do my own billing through office ally right now with a biller troubleshooting some.

Hi Helene,

I am sure there are those who can help you. I used Medisoft for six years, but I wouldn't be able to answer your questions.

I would just at least alert you, if you don't already know, that some day when Jon has time, which should be after 6.0 and possibly demoed at the conference, he will develop Practice Management software. Not sure if you don't want to wait for that.

Dear Helene,

I bought the AC-Medisoft HL7 interface, but after much pushing and pulling (phone calls and emails to both AC and Medisoft) found out that it will not work without getting x-link (about $2000) or Medisoft's Communications Manager ($1395). I decided to skip it and wait until AC adds PM.

Dear Helene,
Today the website states that you can use AC's interface ($500) to connect to Medisoft. Apparently this doesn't appear to be the case. Communication Manager came with Medisoft Advanced Network Professional (I have version 14). It was designed to connect to other software which on my version is InstantDx, MediNotes, PracticePartner and RelayHealth. I tried unsuccessfully by myself and also with the help of Tech support to make an active connection between AC and Medisoft.
I'm told that you might be able to connect the new version (17) using communication manager. I'm fairly familiar with Medisoft but new to Amazing Charts. It seems the best approach would be with an EMR that has a billing system. It seems AC would be the way to go if they develop their PMS as is planned from a pricing point of view. However, some might think it is a bit unethical to advertise stating AC will work with Medisoft with the interface when in fact it is not possible according to AC's own Tech support without using X-link. This brings to the point of support. Will you need support for Medisoft, Amazing charts as well as X-link to do this? This brings us back to buying one product from one company with support. Good Luck.

4th Quarter has been the story (see Jon's note). Let's hope it happens , as I have been waiting since I was first told Summer 2009.

Hi Bert,
Why did you change to Sage?
Our reimbursement has been a lot better, but the report function in Medisoft seems clumsy. Are reports easier to make in Sage?

This is not happy news for our practice, which has decided upon AC and wants bi-directional connectivity with Medisoft until such time as we can get a good look at AC's PM system.

We are still trying to figure this out. We thought we had everything when we bought Medisoft 17 and the interface. I learned that we need to purchase Xlink to make it work together. Still not sure if it is only one direction or bidirectional

I have used Medisoft for years and looked at setting up the interface with AC but decided it wasn't worth the expense to purchase Xlink. We just enter demographics twice. We eventually plan to drop Medisoft assuming that v7's PM will be as good as AC's EMR.

John, that sounds great.
I hope it will be good and we can tell McKesson goodbye.
I have been frustrated because we use Gateway edi and were told when we purchased medisoft (started with v17) that we would be able to do eligibility checks.
At first the response was, there is a glitch with v17 with batching that will eventually be fixed. Now the answer is McKesson has it's own edi, Relay Health that they want you to use. I can use Relay Health for elibility only, but they want me sign up for a year without even being able to try it.

A new AC - Medisoft interface!

We are about to release an interface that will literally revolutionize the connection between the 2 that will be much easier, faster, better, stable than xlink can ever be.

the question is, what would a practice pay for a way to pull all demographics and appts from PM to EMR in real time, yes, like a 4 second delay! And the install would be painless and as stable as Notepad.

While I am asking for what people would pay, I also want to be realistic. We will be cheaper than xlink AND better but we need to stay profitable! smile

Dear twistedtech,

Do you plan to charge for an update every time AC updates to a new version?

If you are a physician, how will you support the product? Do you have a team who will support it?

We have developed several Medisoft products and all of them get free updates for life as long as the product is viable and we still support it. Our TTScanner has been around 6 years and new versions are always no charge. We have a full staff as my company is a Microsoft Gold PArtner and Medisoft Platinum reseller. I don't practice any more, I just sit around and come up with great ideas! smile

twistedtech, if Amazing Charts gave you the sa password to their SQL Server instance, I'm going to be highly upset. I've been asking those. . . people. . . for that password for years with no luck.

The way most of our interfaces work is that we create a folder were the partner can drop to and we can pull from. If you have one of our current interfaces you will see the folder for your interface in the main Amazing Charts directory. In the case of X-Link the folder is called XlinkInterface. Within the folder are two subfolders one for incoming files and one for outgoing files. We do not release the SA password.

Thank you,

Claire

Mind telling us why not? This does not make any sense to me.
