There are lots of good document scanners available. For example, in our office we use 2 Xerox DM 272's. They are pricey, but we scanned all of our medical charts and eliminated paper for the most part. Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 (20 PPM) is a popular choice for a document scanner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838115052The next step up which comes with a TWAIN driver, faster PPM (pages per minute, 40 for this one) among other things, is the Fujitsu fi-6130: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838115043Another cool thing about these scanners is that they are package with Adobe Acrobat Standard. It would be nice to know what your uses are so that we can make a better recommendation.

Check out the NEAT Scanner via this link: www.neatco.com/products NeatDesk is a high-speed, duplex desktop scanner and digital filing system with a TWAIN driver. Scan receipts, business cards and documents in one batch while the software identifies ... We use it at the office and it's fast and reliable (so far)

We are new to AC, so took your suggestions to buy a snapscan 1500. Before I send it back, maybe someone can help (But I've already put it back in the box): We can scan into a file, but when importing into AC, the text is huge and cannot be made smaller. Fujitsu checked it out and it was set up correctly on their end. AC said it was not compatible, because it is not a TWAIN scanner.........how is anyone else getting it to work?

You should be able to scan to PDF and import the items into Amazing Charts. Adobe reader is integrated in Amazing Charts, you can adjust the zoom in there, there's even a fit to window button. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/sandeepluthra/Tutorials/32977646.pngAlso I recommended the second scanner if you needed a TWAIN driver. But scanning to PDF works too. That's what we do.

Please do not return the scanner. We absolutely love our ScanSnap and it has revolutionized our office and our home office. This scanner comes with the full version of Adobe Acrobat. With everything installed, you can simply scan a multipage document and it will automatically scan color, both sides of the page, orient the page properly if upside down or crooked, and even convert to a searchable text document if you want. You can also turn down the quality in the control panel for smaller files. (I do low res for standard text documents.) Then you can simply right click on the document after it saves (we save to a Scan Folder on the server) and convert to a PDF file. Next, drag and drop right into the Imported Items in AC. It works so well! Msg me if you have more questions. You should love this scanner!

I second the scansnap - I bought a TWAIN scanner to replace my scansnap and it is not any easier - you can actually program the scansnap to scan directly to PDF and then just drag and drop or import using the import a file. We have done thousands of documents without a hitch.

I agree with Steven and Boondoc. It's pretty easy to import PDFs. The included Adobe Acrobat Standard is huge plus. That software alone is 200-300 dollars. It's probably better to scan to PDF and use that than go for a TWAIN scanner or the second scanner which give you the TWAIN functionality along with Adobe Acrobat Standard. We have two scanners, not ScanSnap but Xerox DM272. We don't even use the TWAIN driver. Each one scans to its folder to be sorted either immediately or when the staff has time. Not everything is imported in Amazing Charts for us. I wish I would've gotten the ScanSnap or the Fujitsu fi-6130, but they were not released when we bought our scanners. It would've been very nice to have Adobe Acrobat Standard. We got Paperport instead

I always thought it was important to actually import the documents, rather than drag and dropping them into the chart. Is that not true?
