That isn't a beta onsite. That is a request for your office to be a beta tester. It's a Phase I beta and hasn't been released for general use.

Wendell:
Take a look at printing out orders from the orders part without savin them first. They are fixing that. Be careful when they made 6 they took out "electronic signature"...JB and the staff is aware and it is already fixed
I am not sure when that new beta version will come out.

Actually orders I think, printed OK. It was the Rxs that drove me nuts. Other than the speed loss, I was pleased with the minor improvements. It seemed like a regular upgrade.
Of course there is colored MU stuff, which is useful, but to me simply putting head circumference in cm while the height and weight are still "English." That small change was a godsend, but probably only to Pediatricians (OK I'm sure the FP's can appreciate it too..)

The fact that we do not use the metric system in general is unexplainable. Having a parent give me their child's weight in kgs would be a joy.

I guess I better not reveal how I downloaded my copy.
Big disappointment for me: No practice management, though when you look into patient balance (I think), a message pops up stating that it is arriving soon.

Try doing a custom order and hit print before you hit save or send.

I am still trying to figure out the MU stuff. I don't know if it will apply for me. I think it is all a joke personally. The government wants us to do all these things that they deemed important like a freaking blanket. How about the specialty practics...I am sports medicine. I can do BP, and social history and patient education and stuff but some of the other stuff is garbage for a lot of practices. . . seriously more ways uncle sam is trying to control how we do things.
what happened to good patient care? instead we spend our time documenting for others and so that we can't be sued...it is a joke. . .why doesn't the gov't try to protect the people that save lives? how about some tort reform...
and in the end uncle sam isn't gonna give any of us a dime...i am sure the fine print of the recent budget was to cut this stuff out anyway
sorry about the rant!

As do I. It has done nothing except distract me from my patients and the good care I hope to give. I spend so much time trying to make sure I have clicked on this and documented that that my patient interaction is crappy

I doubt I will have interactions checked as it slows down the script writer. Every second counts.
This is what the law should read:
Meaningful use: Use EMR
I can't wait to see doctors who have never used EMRs because they don't like technology adopt an EMR such as Centricity. Now they will have the learning curve of that beast along with the learning curve of Meaningful Use. They will have a patient in DKA sitting in front of them and not even recognize it.

Bert:
I agree...I really initially thought it was to use EMR and use e-trans scripts...now they have check marks ? great...and for me honestly not worth the minimal money i would get...
i am going to try to see what it entails but i dont get it.. id ont' understand the rules...
and i bet they got AMA's backing...great...an organization that does nothing for private practicing docs...what a joke!
i know i am in a ranting mood!!!

Doesn't the AMA support the local chapters to hold annual picnics?

I did not get AC for my office because I expected a check from Uncle Sam, I got it because it helps me do my job better. That being said..... The problem is expectations....the prospect of an incentive payment looked promising for awhile and I admit that I got my hopes up. I haven't given up, but I am not going to twist myself into a pretzle hoping that I'll get a check in the mail. Maybe the bonus will be that we get home in time for dinner, and maybe down the road we won't get "fined" for being "outdated".

Yeah, Alice got AC because, when I walked in to help her with her 3 yr old practice, I said "You need an EMR." Then I researched them and chose one which I thought would help her practice be more productive, and that would hopefully have added more capabilities by the time she got ready for them. It made sense to get an EMR for her. And sense we don't accept Medicare/Medicaid, we arent' eligible for MU so I dont even think about it. Sounds like a pain in the keister though.

For any of you V6.0 experimenters, do the %His, %Fname, etc. fillers work? I use them a lot, and there was a post that they were broken in 5.17.
