For those of you using Mozy online backup service, they just announced that they are ending their flat rate $59 a year online backup. I was using them for my 90 GB backup of home music and video files. Now the rate would increase to like $120 a year. At this rate, I think I would be better off using several external USB hard drives and rotating them to my office and safe deposit box.

Anybody have any their favorite alternative?

Of note at work, for amazing charts, as one of my backup options, I am using Jungle disk / rackspace on Bert's recommendation for about 5-10GB at a cost of $5 or so a month. Works well.

Mozy ending the flat rate.....I was beginning to wonder what was taking them so long. They held out longer than I thought they would have.

I have been using Mozy for a couple of years and have never paid a flat rate. I have always had to pay monthly for the GBs I choose to back up.

We use JungleDisk for all of our dev machines for nightly development directory backups.

If you are looking @ storing ~100GIGs online, one choice would be shared hosting, or a virtual server. This would allow you to use FTP or SFTP to copy over all the files, as well as access.

If you are so inclined, you can put a CMS like Drupal or WordPress to front-end the site, make the site password-only, and use a web front-end to access your files & content.

Thanks Indy. I forgot that I have 150 GB of FTP storage through my website provider. I'll use that option too for redundancy.

Glad to be of service. There are tools/scripts that can automate the process, but they don't typically do diffs like JungleDisk, only file list compares. Depending on what you are doing, you should be fine. If you have to pay for burst overage on your hosting account, some clients allow you to throttle bandwidth so you don't get dinged during the large initial upload.

The nice thing about Jungle Disk is it uses deduplication.
