One of my computers AC spell check will not allow me to add new words to the dictionary unless I am signed on as administrator. Other work stations allow me to save new words in dictionary without being signed in as Admin. Any suggestions. Thanks

I'm waiting for AC to add a medical dictionary before I even turn the darn thing back on. Right now I find it useless.

Let me completely understand. You mean you aren't going to use AC at all unless the spell check is better?

Best to add them enmasse directly.
When you say logged in as admin, please clarify. There are two ways.
Remember, anything you change in spell check, ONLY affects that computer.
Silly, yes, but that's just the way it is.
We have to figure that we will always have a sub par spell check, but then again, few programs do. The large office suites, probably some others. I pay around $150 a year for medical dictionary in Stedman's which is awesome for Outlook and Word.
By the way, if you use either, I highly recommend Stedman's medical dictionary. You just run it as an install, and it does the rest. It costs more the first time, then you upgrade.
Let me know if you want to know how to do the spell check fixes enmass for all computers.

We use a sever and work stations. I mean log into work station as administrator AC spell check allows me to add new words to dict.
When I am logged on as a non adm user and try to save a new word it won't let me save word it tells me "can't add word to user dictionary. File may be read only or disk may be full".
This problem only happens on one work station. If I log into another work station as same nonadm user I don't have this prob. My IT guy has not been able to solve problem.

Where on the program are you making the preference changes?

When I sign the note spell check pops up and if it flags a word that is correct but it does not know I press the add word tab and that is when the message pops up "can't add word to user dictionary. File may be read only or disk may be full". Like I said this only happens on one of my laptop and if I sign onto windows as admin it allows me to save new words. This does not happen other networked machines. I have not tried to made preference changes -I though I needed to change dic file from read only (which I don't know how to do).

It sounds to me like it is a permissions problem. The file is read only.
Go to both the AC folder on THAT computer, right click and look at sharing and at permissions. Make sure that "Everyone" (to keep it simple) has read/write permissions. I would then check the file user.dic and see if everyone has read/write permissions. Just to be safe for now, give them all FULL permissions.
Given the error message, this is likely your problem.

Oh, thank God. I didn't want to see you leave. I have had it turned off for seven years, lol.

[quote-endo1]I have not tried to made preference changes -I though I needed to change dic file from read only (which I don't know how to do).[/quote] I put together a little video of how to set the permissions. Let me know if you still have problems. http://www.box.net/shared/4lvul28dv7
