Just upgraded to v 4 last week. It takes 20 sec to load up demographics or other aplets on AC.

One tech said that speed test suggests bandwidth. Doesn't make sense, as I spoke to linksys and uploaded latest software for wrt54g, and it still runs slow on all 4 of the 5 terminals we have hooked up to the main computer.

RAM issue? Although one site on AC said only 245 K ram needed, on the V4 download it said minimum of 1 G ram. I don't know who is right, I am guessing that 1 G or more is likely the problem. What's odd, is that one terminal with 1 G is running slow, yet the only terminal that runs fast has only 500 K RAM. The rest have between 256 and 500 K.

Is it software? While installing, most of the terminals said something to the effect "missing file ... SGL something...". So I am not sure if all the components are installed.

2 tech support has not been helpful. They said to get a network guy to figure it out.

I am guessing that it is a RAM issue. I am surprised that they have not updated their requirement or make it clear. Why on one site they said at least 1G, and another (the one with the diagrams and said that "any computers sold should more than satisfy" the 256K requirement.

I think I am going to upgrade RAM on one of them first, and see what happens. Then, I'll worry about changing the WRT54G router.

Also I've ran the terminals and the main computer with and without firewall, with and with out antiviruses. And also reinstalled MacAffee without help.

I had a similar problem, I am sorry, forgot how I fixed it. It was definitely a computer issue (I think antivirus or firewall) that was repairable by messing with settings

Yup, you are right Jack. For some reason, techsupport tried to disable the firewall of the antivirus, but it didn't work. I guess it takes a while for the setting to kick in. I also had to search as some of the computers had windows firewall also running. They both had to be disabled.

I don't know why it takes time for the settings to work. I think some residual function of the firewall is there, and does not clear up until the computers are rebooted.

The memory issue appear to be a non issue, as now even the terminals with only 256K runs fine.

If all else fails, try:

1) Reinstall MS Office... occasionally Office becomes corrupt, and in fact occurred on this computer where I'm typing this note. It wasn't obvious; but once reinstalled, all MS Office programs (esp my EMR) zipped along again without issue.
2) Try using the new Western Digital 10000 RPM SATA Raptor drive... it's amazing technology and really FAST!
2) Try running the program HijackThis.exe to see what is running in the background, then post the results here, on this thread. You'd be surprised at what is running in the background, even after you've supposedly stopped the process. You can click on those processes that you wish to stop and it'll stop them for you. The software is FREE...
