I'm not 100% certain, but I used the PCMH agency recommended by my IPA to help obtain PCMH recognition. They mentioned several reporting requirements for PCMH—such as medication reconciliation and appropriate use of antibiotics for pharyngitis—which they had difficulty extracting from Amazing Charts. Apparently, Amazing Charts could only generate those reports for an additional fee, and the agency couldn’t guarantee that I’d meet the requirements for PCMH recertification if I continued using Amazing Charts.
P.S. I would still highly recommend pursuing PCMH status. It’s definitely a lot of work, but I’ve seen real benefits for my patients—and financially as well—especially if you have a large Medicaid population.
