Lots of bears in Arkansas. You can drive fifteen minutes from my office and you are in the *country*. Just saw a bear crossing the road recently. We have black bears, and bear attacks are rare.

Bears used to be extremely prolific here, were nearly wiped out, and now are making a comeback (along with the Bald Eagles, which fly over my house).
