Immediatemed,
As I have posted here before, I do not use Quests computer to enter lab orders. I'm in agreement with you that we are Quests work.
We draw labs inhouse. We simply print the requisitions straight from Amazing Charts and put them in the specimen bag. Order whatever labs you are going to order, then before you hit the SEND or SAVE button, print the requisition. Quest has been accepting these from me for over five years now without issue. The req gets scanned on their end and they use OCR software. The only thing is if you have more than one provider in your office, you need to put the ordering providers NPI number on the requisition but it can't be hand written (due to the software). We made labels or you can make a stamp with the NPI number on it. Putting the ordering providers NPI numbers allows the labs to be sent to the appropriate individual if you are using the intereface.
We have a "logbook" where we keep track of what is sent (tracked in Excel).
