The contact list should provide space for 2 email addresses...both in AC and in Updox. One email is for standard email. The second is for their DIRECT email address. All communication doesn't need to be HIPAA-compliant but we need to be able to add these addresses to out contact list. Then we should simply be able to select their name and choose to send securely (or not, as the case may be).
