United Heathcare has notified us that they will soon require pre approval for several pricey labs (like vitamin D). The process will be to order lab through the LabCorp Beacon website, I am told, with clinical data submitted for approval before the lab will be drawn. The AC-LabCorp interface won't help, since its not bidirectional.
Seems reasonable. After all, UHC had a 2% drop in
profits last quarter, (only
1.4 billion dollars). I feel so guilty ordering all those Vitamin D's.
