I can't ignore this opportunity to add my wish that a "Review" button be added next to the Print button on the bottom of II that would add the following text to Plans, just like you sent a prescription:
"The patient's recent HemoglobinA1C of 8.5% (High) on 1/24/2013 was reviewed with the patient. The increase from the result of 7.8% (High) on 06/12/2012 was discussed."
I want to spend my time reviewing labs with the patient, and an increasing, out of control HgbA1C is major, rather than spend my time typing all those facts.
If you highlight something else, say a CXR where there aren't any digital "facts", the Review button would add:
"The patient's CXR report received on 1/29/2013 was reviewed with the patient."
I could then add further comments on what changes in treatment are being made. This is what programming could do for us.
