Keep in mind that if you have users that are no longer active, or "phantom" users that you create for administrative reasons, they may have messages in their box.
So let's say that you have an employee who leaves but either a. they leave with messages in their inbox or b.they are not inactivated. Any messages in their inbox will never be deleted from the senders outbox.
This is especially an issue if you send "groupbox" messages; they might get deleted by other people, but if one is still in someone's inbox, they stay in your outbox.
