It would be good for John to post again, and while many of us have asked for a 10 day course of amoxicillin to become inactive after 10 days, I don't think he is asking that.
I think he is asking about how do we know about the start date and end date, e.g.
Lipitor prescribed on 1/1/12
Lipitor inactivated on 7/7/12
