Thought I would get some views and maybe some poll input on a subject of mine. Of message boards that give notification via email when a post has been made on a thread you have taken part in, there are two types. The opt in and the opt out. We currently have an opt in system. This means you must manually and actively click on a setting so that this message board alerts you about a reply. This is true even if you started a thread. With an opt out, you would receive a notification that someone posted in a thread you were interested in without doing anything. You would, of course, have the option of opting out by clicking on a similar setting.
No matter how hard I try, I continue to forget to set the thread to notify me. I then have to go through the whole board looking for threads I have posted in. For me, it would seem rather obvious that if you took the time to post in a thread, you would be interested to know if others had either replied to your post or continued to add intersting opinions.
