Yes, you can do this through the administrative settings.
I hadn't done this in V6 until I just checked to see exactly where it was.
Go to the TOOLS dropdown and 5th from the bottom is Import items: sign off all unsigned items. It used to tell how how many there were but now it just questions whether this is really what you want to do and do you want to include lab and radiology results, if you say OK to both, then it runs and states completed
Still seems to me there is another way to do this, but I can't find it at present.
