Password-protected: It wasn't even encrypted. My guess the password was Rover or maybe something harder like Rover1
Specialized technical expertise: A 10 yo who spends four hours a day on an X-box.
Software: The backup program likely found in an .xml or .txt file.
Hardware: A computer.
