If you are referring to the item types in imported items (as opposed to the "import/export menu item under the File menu in the main screen,) it cannot be done from within AC, at least 5.029. However, using UpDox you can create new categories, and then move imported items into those categories. You would have to put at least one item into the desired UpDox category from within UpDox for each patient to create that category for that patient; there is no global creation of new categories.
