Wayne, here is my personal favorite.
My surname is Grauman. My mother's maiden name was Garza, born in Mexico as were my brothers. Being a willful child living in the US,, I refused to learn much Spanish. I am white as a Lilly. The entire ethnic thing annoys me mightily. One time when filling out some forms for university employment, I marked "Hispanic". The secretary looked at me and said "You are? How wonderful!! We get points!"

This will all be fixed the day there is only one checkbox for "mongrel."
