First of all, I agree with Steven, it is safer and easier to use the free version of LogMeIn to connect your laptop to your office computer and complete the encounters. See this recent discussion.

You are now getting an error because the laptop AC program cannot find the database that you synced with on your main computer at work. However, you can reset the path to use the database on your laptop by using Amazing Utilities:
1. Open the AC folder (located in C: Program Files) and double click on "Amazing Utilities".
2. At the bottom of the window, click on Reset Paths, and wait for the process to complete, then click Quit.
3. Start Amazing Charts; It will ask you to find the database. Use "Browse" to navigate through the folders on your computer to the path to the local directory - "C:\Program Files\Amazing Charts\Amazing Charts.xml".
4. AC should start up, using the database on the laptop.

Now be very careful when you take the laptop back to the office network. It will sync again just fine (once you select the office main computer's database at the startup of Amazing Sync). However, whether you sync or not, remember, the laptop will is now set to use its internal AC database, not the main computer's, once you login to AC. So you could, in error, think you are entering data into the office AC database, but actually you are only entering into the laptop's database. You have to manually reset the path to the office main computer to use the laptop in the office. Use the 4 steps above, but browse for the main computer AC folder on your network.

I can't tell you how many times I messed this up, until I finally gave up and began using LogMeIn.
