This is not related to AC, it's a compliance (?) question.

Do you get patients to sign a consent form before creating a patient portal?

We did before but I would like to eliminate this step.

My view is, the patient portal is pretty much the same as getting one of those "you have a secure message" emails where you have to log in to view the message. Nobody ever asks me to sign a consent form before getting these secure messages. I have to create a password to see the email just like the Updox portal. The portal is even more secure because they have to verify the DOB when logging in the first time.

What do you think?

We have never gotten a consent for portal participation.
I think many hospitals actually create them automatically now.
