We're fed up with Updox, no tech support, is down more than up and on top of that they want to increase prices 7.5% next year. Not doing it. I wonder if anyone has used another efaxing service preferably with an API to import faxes to AC?

Same. It has disconnected repeatedly the last couple of days, twice today alone, and our search archive keeps getting wiped out, so I've had to ask updox to rebuild it several times in the last few weeks/months. We're looking for alternatives to Updox, too.

I will be switching to SPRUCE soon for my phone and faxes. I looked at Weave and Rib=ng Central also but liked the features of Spruce. I have been using a Brother MFC for years and worked well with never using UpDox due to the cost. There are other posts on her about the Brother machine. Works great but trying to move a different direction I can post after we have used it for a while.

Wish AC had a user portal outside of UpDox!

I am now paying over $200 a month for Updox and just got the 7.5% rate increase announcement.
My staff insists it saves tons of time importing into patient's charts, but I am looking at alternatives.

So what happens re: the portal if you give up the paid version of Updox?
Do you still keep the patient portal within AC, run by Updox?

And for today's update... after a series of emails from Updox about preventive maintenance planned and "successfully completed" last night, we cannot get to Updox at all.
Of course status.updox.com says everything is operational.

See my earlier comment 10/25/25 on the thread about AC data export requests.

Like AC's decline in support, my displeasure with the cost of Updox was another reason to retire from family medicine.
It started as a service that was ideally suited for small practices and AC.
In some ways Updox was better, since I was able to use it remotely on my phone.
Then they added bells and whistles and sold the company.
Up went the price and down went the support.
Too bad, as Updox (and AC) are actually excellent products, and I was a big fan of Updox when I first started using it.

Spruce looks promising.

In retrospect the least useful aspect of Updox was the "secure portal" function.
It seemed like such a good idea at the time, and presumably was required for HIPAA/ACA.
If anything, it hindered communication and access.

It would have been nice if AC had developed that requirement rather than farming that out to Updox.

What did work well with Updox was the unified inbox and remote access.
This was remarkable at the time.
