Here is a neat magic trick, if I may.
I am sure everyone has created a test patient or two. This works in real life too but you may not want to try it.
For this example the inbox has only two messages. This glitch will happen even with multiple messages in the inbox.
Message 1: Patient A: Patient needs labs drawn.
Message 2: Patient B: Please call patient.
Click message 1 -> Turns blue/now active -> Click "Order" -> Order labs -> Click "Send Orders"
Now, you will see three items in the inbox. Message 1, Message 2 and ORDER:Patient A
The Message 2 is now highlighted for Patient B. But, in the message box the original message for Patient A is still present with the lab order. I usually add in which lab I sent it to and click 'Save to Chart'.
At this point if you "Save To Chart" it will ask "Are you sure you want to save to Patient B?" (Patient B, really, AC (Not patient A)!)
Click Yes in a hurry, and guess what just happened?!
Open patient B's chart and you have Patient A's information in the past encounters section of Patient A.
And the best part is......The Message B is no longer in the list of messages! Gone! (Hope to God that it was nothing important.) And, the Message A is still in the Message box with the ORDER item.
God knows how many wrong entries I have made in real life!
