Yep. This just happened to us as well. We're in the process of switching banks and I was holding out until the new bank cards came in.
Our price went up as a result of this, but worse was the feeling of being tricked; emphasis on the feeling.
One of the reasons I loved AC back when my husband was looking at different ehr/emr programs was the line "What are the hidden costs that will piss me off later?" in the AC FAQ. What a great philosophy! Be upfront about how the program works, be upfront about the pricing, try before you buy; what's not to love? I wanted to support a company like that.
Anyway, if you search the boards, you'll find a post by Jon (owner of AC) where this new pricing policy is explained.
Post is HERE. Explanations go a long way in maintaining trust and good relations but they don't help at all if they aren't given when they're needed. I'm very loyal to AC and was willing to take the time and effort to search for this post (which was mentioned by the person at AC I spoke with). A simple link in an email would have been nice and saved me a lot of angst.
