I sent a request -
I think it would be great if on main pt screen if you highlight pt name then the lower left screen has some information about pt - name, dob, etc. I think they should try to put full demographics in corner so you didn't have to open chart to see what kind of insurance, cell numbers, e-mail, etc.
What do other people think ?

I suppose that might be nice. On the other hand, it would put a lot of stuff in the little box. It is just one keystroke away (F5 brings it all up).

The advantage is if you have an e-mail open with that pt. name it would also bring it up in the lower left corner, or while looking at lab. F5 opens demographics which is good, but name, dob and insurance is already there - phone numbers would be small amount to add.

I frequently use two computers, the patient chart open on one, while I write a letter or review labs etc on the other.

I think that something like balance due would be good. A lot of doctors (even staff, sometimes) have no idea when a patient has a large account balance. I think it would be good to be able to see that right from the start.
If staff could see a large balance when a person calls for an appointment, they could try to bring the issue up right then and there.
Just a thought.

We keep the patient balance in the yellow sticky note... it really helps. Staff is instructed to ask for the name of the person with whom they are speaking, and open up demographics to both verify the patient, and glance at their balance in yellow. Even if they don't do the demographics page, there is enough when pulling up the patient name, the yellow sticky info is right at the bottom, along with the date of birth and insurance that our eyes search for from the get go.
