I am trying to complete my office notes offsite using LogMeIn Pro via DSL. I am hampered by lag in typing, and slow moving screens. Is this a factor of relatively slow broadband? Anyone not having this problem? Any suggestions?

My LogMeIn works great almost all the time. EXCEPT when connection problems is an issue. If your network speed is less than stellar - you can expect alot of frustration. My cell phone can even access my work computer over the internet using LogMeIn and that is fast enough (whatever 3G fast is - see map). We had pretty crappy DSL at home (I live in the sticks) when we installed it we only had one speed option: crawl. We upgraded a year or so ago to their midlevel speed (which incidently costs less than what we were paying for crawl) which is now so fast I had to get a new computer because it couldn't handle video streaming without freezing / skipping. So - if it ain't slow speed on the DSL it may be slow processor / limited RAM memory on the home PC. Good luck.

I use LogMeIn Pro frequently at home, and there are a few tweaks that might help speed up the responsiveness of LogMeIn. The easiest option is changing the color quality while using Remote Control. Choose the "Options" button on the black Remote Control ribbon, and then select "Low" or "Black & White" under "Color Quality". The host computer will appear in black and white (less data transmitted, less bandwidth needed, faster response). Another option: Remote Control can also use the "Java mode" instead of Active-X or Flash modes, which I guess are bandwidth hogs. There is a screencast on the LogMeIn website about how to switch modes.

I also have been using LogMeIn Pro at home for a few weeks and have been very happy with it. The speed is generally not noticeably different than over the office network. My connection is with Fios. Every once in a while I get delays and "jumping" of the cursor; usually reconnecting LogMeIn corrects that problem. By the way, in my opinion, the time saved with Ignition is well worth the the $29 if you use LogMeIn regularly.

JBS: I still don't understand what Ignition does- can you elaborate on it? I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to get.
LogMeIn is great! I have the Pro on one computer, and the "free" version on 6 others (use those to set up antivirus scans, post notes onscreen, etc).
Thanks, Al

LogMeIn Ignition allows you to log into another computer on your account without entering the password, essentially speeds up login. It also can be kept on a USB drive or iPhone to log in at any "public" computer that doesn't have LogMeIn installed, or from your iPhone.

Without ignition: Open your web browser and go to logmein site. Enter your user name and password. Click enter and the "my computers" screen pops up. Click the computer you want to access. Enter the "access code" for the computer.
With ignition: Click ignition short cut. Click "remote control".
Not only several fewer clicks, but connection is nearly instantaneous. No waiting for the browser to open either.
Yes, there is a bit less security since passwords are already in.

Cool! I need to get it, both for speed and to login through the hospital computers. Thanks, guys. Al

Wow! Java really speeds up AC with LogMeIn. Now has minimal typing lag. Thanks Ryanjo.
